1. Several plays presented in repertory over the same period. The Comédie-Française is the only theatre in France to do this systematically in the Salle Richelieu, where there may be up to five different plays a week, or even two different ones a day, one as a matinée and the other in the evening. This means that a permanent company of actors is required. 2. In a play, the same role may be taken by several actors, thus allowing them to be free for other plays. These plays include those put on in the three Paris theatres, or plays on tour, or those being rehearsed or possibly being put on outside the Comédie-Française. |
