Managing Director |
The Comédie-Française comes under the leadership of a Managing Director who is appointed for five years by Ministerial Decree by the French Minister for Culture. His or her term may be extended for a further three years. The Managing Director is responsible for the artistic management of the company, draws up the programme for the three theatres, hires contracted actors and presides over the Executive Committee, the Annual General Meeting of the Shareholding Members and the Reading Committee. He or she is assisted by the General Manager, who is also appointed by the Minister for Culture on the Managing Director's proposal. The Managing Director also appoints the Secretary-General, the Technical Director and the two Assistant Technical Directors. |
