All the parts on the stage making up the scene in which the play is performed. Traditionally, sets were backdrops painted in perspective; today they are more likely to be specially built parts that can be activated by machines. Sets may be the same for the whole performance, or changed as necessary, and are completed by the props and costumes to make up all the visual components of the production. |
