Once each play has been registered in the
Comédie-Française repertoire and
performed on the stage of the Salle Richelieu, it is
individually accounted for. The daily records kept since
the 17th century indicate the cast, the date and the
revenues for each performance. These statistics make it
possible to follow the status of each play according to
year, decade and century.
Several plays by Molière have the highest number of performances
since 1680: the leader is Tartuffe, which passed
the 3 000 mark in 1997. They are followed by plays by Corneille, Racine, Beaumarchais, Musset, Regnard, Dancourt, Marivaux, Hugo, etc.
The title of each play, the author's name and the number
of performances appear first, followed by the year of creation and the year
of entry into the
Comédie-Française repertoire.
Even if the two latter dates are the same, they are
repeated twice.
