Rebecca
Marder

pensionnaire

Rebecca Marder first appeared on film at the age of five. She played Charlotte beside Louis Garrel and Mélanie Laurent, in Ceci est mon corps, a feature film directed by Rodolphe Marconi released in 2001. Five years later she took up the starring role in Kid Power (Demandez la permission aux enfants), directed by Éric Civanyan, beside Michel Vuillermoz and Sandrine Bonnaire. In 2009, Roselyne Bosch cast her in La Rafle alongside with Sylvie Testud and Gad Elmaleh.

Between 2008 and 2011, Rebecca Marder commenced her theatrical training at the Conservatoire du 13e arrondissement prior to enrolling in a preparatory class for the arts section of the École Normale Supérieure in 2013, which she was forced to abandon due to filming obligations. The same year, she enrolled at the Université Paris-Diderot in modern literature, with cinema as her minor. She has been part of several television productions, such as E-Love directed by Anne Villacèque in 2011. Both reunited two years later for the television film Deux. She interpreted the title role in the movie Emma, directed by Alain Tasma starring also Éric Caravaca, Julie Gayet and Maria Pacôme. For this interpretation, she won the prize for Best Female Newcomer at the La Rochelle Festival de la Fiction TV. In 2012, she played Barbara and Romaine in Entrez et fermez la porte, a play written and directed by Marie Billetdoux. In 2014, Rebecca Marder enrolled at the École du Théâtre National de Strasbourg run by Stanislas Nordey.

She was admitted as pensionnaire to the Comédie-Française, on the 22nd of June 2015, where she made her debut as Lucietta in Carlo Goldoni’s The Boors directed by Jean-Louis Benoit. The following year, she played Claudine in Molière’s George Dandin et la jalousie du barbouillé, staged by Hervé Pierre. In 2017, Éric Ruf offered her the role of Atalide in his staging of Racine’s Bajazet, while Isabelle Nanty entrusted her with playing Violette in Feydeau’s The Free Exchange Hotel (L’Hôtel du Libre-Échange). After that followed Sergi Belbel’s Après la pluie directed by Lilo Baur. Chloé Dabert cast her for The Youngest One (La plus jeune) in Jean-Luc Lagarce’s J’étais dans ma maison et j’attendais que la pluie vienne. Clément Hervieu-Léger entrusted her with playing Thea in his staging of Wedekind’s The Awakening of Spring.

Over the summer of 2017, Rebecca Marder filmed Fiertés, a series for ARTE Television, directed by Philippe Faucon alongside Jérémie Elkaïm and Chiara Mastroianni, as well as the film A Man in a Hurry (Un homme pressé) by Hervé Mimran alongside Fabrice Luchini and Leïla Bekhti.

During the 2018/2019 season, Rebecca Marder plays in Fanny and Alexander after Bergman directed by Julie Deliquet; Electra / Orestes after Euripides directed by Ivo van Hove; and in Les Serge (Gainsbourg Point Barre) written and directed by Stéphane Varupenne and Sébastien Pouderoux. She can also be seen in the rerun of Feydeau’s The Free Exchange Hotel as staged by Isabelle Nanty.
