Jane Birkin went down in music history as a seminal French artist of the 20th and 21st centuries. She worked with several composers, including Serge Gainsbourg and Étienne Daho, and acted for directors and filmmakers such as Patrice Chéreau, Agnès Varda or Jacques Rivette. She began writing her own pieces in 2008; in 2019, she released the contents of the diary she had been writing since the age of 11, which expresses a paradox lying in a form of universal intimacy: “On reading my diaries it seems to me that one doesn't change. What I was at twelve, I am still today”. Or “My mind is like a weed that has overgrown itself and I just want to cut free.” This Lundi au Vieux-Co is the opportunity to discover this inspired and inspiring figure in a new light, with her artistic influences and preferences, constant curiosity for artistic creation, and the way she inhabited it until she became a leading figure of her era.
