Pierre-Louis Calixte wrote and directed this piece which paints a dual, intimate portrait of Molière throughout the scenes, and displays the influence the playwright had on his life as a man and an actor.
“Let me call you Jean-Baptiste”, he says at the beginning of the play, starting off a dialogue with a kindly elder. He becomes the narrator of his own memory and conveys images of a young Molière attending plays with his grandfather. The intertwining of real and fictional memories ends up appealing to our own in this tribute to theatre and life.
