Victor Haïm’s play takes the form of a confession. The account of a sensitive artist where everything seems perfectly happy, but which veers with brutal ferocity into the absurdity of a bad dream.
In the manner of a storyteller, the author recounts a tragic tale embellished with digressions which his humour, and no doubt his love of life, generate so naturally. Here, music acts as an instrument of fate, delivering false notes, taking pleasure in subverting an overly harmonious melody by injecting terrifying dissonances. When he spoke to me about his project, which he wanted to associate me with, I eagerly awaited what his imagination would produce. In fact, he distorts the events of his life in a way that is particular to him... Perhaps the dramas we both experienced and our childhoods during the war participated in this symbiosis... It makes for a thrilling challenge!
