General terms and conditions of sale

These terms and conditions of sale apply automatically and without restriction to all orders placed with the Comédie-Française and its subsidiaries: EPIC Comédie-Française, SAS Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier, SA Studio-Théâtre, hereinafter referred to as the Comédie-Française.

They are subject to modification without prior notice.

Confirmation of an order constitutes conclusion of the final contract. This implies the unconditional acceptance by the customer of the entirety of these general terms and conditions, which they acknowledge having read prior to validating their purchase. The customer accepts the provisions concerning security and the additional regulations relating to access to the auditorium or any other performance venue. This implies acceptance of the access conditions and internal regulations of partner theatres for off-site performances.

General provisions

Purchases may be made: 
- on the Comédie-Française ticketing website reserver.comedie-francaise.fr
- by telephone on 01 44 58 15 15 Monday to Saturday, 11am to 6pm
- at the box office (except during ticket sale opening weeks for the following season's productions)

  • Salle Richelieu - 1 place Colette Paris 1st arrondissement, Monday to Sunday, 2pm to 6pm

  • Théâtre du Vieux Colombier - 21 rue du Vieux Colombier Paris 6th arrondissement, Tuesday to Saturday, 2pm to 6pm

Sales take place in two stages; dates and procedures can be found in the Comédie-Française's communications materials and on the websitecomedie-francaise.fr.

Opening dates and hours are subject to change without prior notice.

The Comédie-Française reserves the right to modify ticket prices at any time. However, such modifications will have no effect on the price of orders that have already been paid.

Any unpaid booking will be cancelled without prior notice 48 hours before the performance.

Membership packages

The number of Cartes Comédie-Française available for sale is limited.

The preferential rates associated with the Cartes are subject to quotas and are available within the limit of seats reserved at those rates.

  • Adult Card solo 

preferential rate on the full price * for 1 seat per production, and up to 2 seats at one of the rates available through our sales channels

  • Adulte Card duo

preferential rate on the full price * for 2 seats per production, and up to 2 seats at one of the rates available through our sales channels

  • Young Card (under 28)

preferential rate on the full price * for 1 seat per production, and up to 2 seats at one of the rates available through our sales channels

  • Family Card

preferential rate for up to 5 seats per production * : 1 or 2 adults and 1 to 3 young people under 18, and up to 2 seats at one of the rates available through our sales channels

The Comédie-Française is committed to an environmentally responsible approach. In order to reduce our environmental impact, we no longer send out physical Comédie-Française Card. 

Conditions for purchasing individual tickets

Online booking fee: €1 per ticket

In the event of high demand, the Comédie-Française reserves the right to limit purchases to 4 seats per production per person.

n accordance with Article L221-28 12° of the French Consumer Code, audience members do not have a right of withdrawal following the purchase of a performance ticket.

Tickets are neither refunded nor exchanged.

  • Concession rates

In order to ensure a diversity of audiences in our venues, concession rates are subject to quotas. 

Under 28 rate:
proof of age must be uploaded to the personal online account

Jobseeker and minimum social benefits rates:
proof of eligibility dated within the last 3 months must be uploaded to the personal online account. Intermittent entertainment workers benefit from the jobseeker rate. The minimum social benefits rate is available to recipients of the RSA, AAH, ASPA, ASS, ADA, ASI, ASV, RSO, CSS and bereavement allowance. 

For those benefiting from the above rates, supporting documents — in digital format (.jpg, .pdf) — must be uploaded to the personal online account or sent by email to billetterie.richelieu@comedie-francaise.org within 48 hours of purchasing tickets online. Tickets will be made available in the personal account or sent by email upon receipt of the supporting documents. Failure to submit proof of eligibility within the required timeframe will result in the full rate being applied. In the event of non-payment of the difference between the concession rate and the full rate, the Comédie-Française reserves the right to cancel the booking and refund the amount already received for the ticket in question. For orders placed less than 48 hours before the performance date, no refund or cancellation will be made.

Accessibility rates:
Upon submission of proof of eligibility to accessibilite@comedie-francaise.org 
People requiring an accompanying person benefit from an exemption for that person, upon presentation of a disability card showing a rating of 80% or above, with the notation "Besoin d'accompagnement" (need for accompaniment).

Ministry of Culture and SACD cardholder rates:
A preferential rate is available upon presentation of Ministry of Culture and SACD cards (subject to availability) at the last minute at the entrance to the Salle Richelieu, the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier and the Studio-Théâtre.

Gift vouchers

Available in denominations of €30, €50 and €80, gift vouchers may be used to purchase tickets for productions at the Salle Richelieu, the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier and the Studio-Théâtre, as well as entry tickets for individual visits to the Salle Richelieu and tickets for partner theatre productions where these are sold by the Comédie-Française, to the exclusion of all other products.

Gift vouchers may be purchased online, by telephone and at the Salle Richelieu box office

Tickets for productions or visits using gift vouchers may be purchased exclusively online at comedie-francaise.fr, by telephone, and at the box offices of the Salle Richelieu and the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier only.

A gift voucher does not constitute a ticket: any person holding a gift voucher must first make a booking for the production or visit of their choice, subject to availability. Gift vouchers are non-refundable and valid only for performances and visits during the reference season indicated on the voucher. 

Payment methods

Immediate payment by bank card is preferred. Payment for one or more tickets must be made in a single transaction.

Modifications and cancellations

The Comédie-Française reserves the right to modify the productions presented and in particular to offer an alternative production or a different cast where the conditions for presenting the production as planned are not met. In the event of cancellation of a production by the Comédie-Française, except in cases of force majeure — to which are expressly assimilated cases of requisition of the Comédie-Française by any public authority for whatever reason, and cases of national strike — the face value of the ticket price paid by the customer will be refunded by the Comédie-Française (excluding sales channel or postage fees) upon request by the customer, submitted within a maximum period of three months from the date of the performance and upon presentation of the ticket, to the exclusion of any other compensation or indemnity whatsoever. If the performance is interrupted after more than half of its duration has elapsed, the ticket will not be refunded.

Ticket delivery

If the audience member who placed the order does not receive a booking confirmation by email within 2 days, they must contact the Comédie-Française at billetterie.richelieu@comedie-francaise.org or on 01 44 58 15 15 during opening hours.

Ticket delivery methods for individual tickets:
- purchases made at the box office, ticket printed and handed over at the time of purchase
- purchases made online or by telephone, e-ticket (to be printed at home or presented on a mobile device upon entry to the auditorium)

Audience members are required to check that their tickets are correct upon receipt. No claims will be accepted after the date of the performance.

Purchasing conditions for groups and organisations

These conditions govern ticket bookings made by local authorities, works councils, staff associations, associations, tourist offices and groups of friends. 
Any booking implies acceptance of these conditions.

Booking and rates
a hold may be placed on any order of at least 10 seats in the same seating category and on the same date, to facilitate group bookings. 

A preferential rate is available for cultural, sports and heritage associations.

The full rate applies to all other groups.

Failure to comply with the booking conditions, in particular the minimum seat threshold, may result in the cancellation of the order and its referral to the box office without any guarantee of availability, entailing the application of the full rate, sales channel fees and immediate payment. 

Payment and payment methods
Payment must reach us no later than two months before the chosen performance date. For bookings made less than 60 days before the performance, payment must be made immediately and in full. 

Upon receipt of payment, the order will be considered firm and final. No amendments will be accepted. 

Tickets will be sent exclusively by email to the address of the contact on the customer record.

Payments are made by payment link or bank transfer.

Responsibility and commitment of the group organiser and audience members
The group organiser is the person responsible for coordinating the group's visit, ensuring compliance with the commitments made at the time of booking, and informing participants of the terms and conditions of sale, access and admission to the venues. Only this designated person may contact the Groups and Organisations Service. No individual requests will be taken into account.

Conditions of use of tickets

Tickets are neither refunded, nor exchanged, nor resold, nor reimbursed, including in the event of loss or theft. Any holder of a ticket purchased under this offer is prohibited, under penalty of possible legal proceedings, from using it for any promotional or commercial purposes whatsoever. In particular, unless specifically agreed by the Comédie-Française, any sale or exchange of tickets is strictly prohibited under penalty of sanctions provided for in the Penal Code (law of 27 June 1919). In this respect, the Comédie-Française reserves the right to refuse entry to its venues to any holder of a ticket purchased from an organisation other than the Comédie-Française or any third party duly mandated by it.

Conditions of admission to performance venues

Each ticket entitles the holder to one seat only. 

In the event of late arrival: auditorium doors close at curtain up. In the event of late arrival, access to the auditorium and numbered seating cannot be guaranteed, so as not to disrupt the performance. Where possible, audience members will be shown to their seats at a moment deemed appropriate by the theatre and the artistic team.

Photography, filming and recording are prohibited throughout the theatre.

Ticket holders are required to conduct themselves in accordance with the standards of courtesy commonly observed inside and outside the auditorium. Any behaviour likely to disturb the peace of other audience members or Comédie-Française staff may lead the security teams to ask the person in question to leave the auditorium and/or the theatre premises.

Audiovisual recording

Our productions may be subject to audiovisual recording and as such, audience members may be filmed and appear in the footage. 

In such cases, audience members will be notified by email and by notices posted at the venue.

Claims

Subject to the foregoing provisions, any claim must be submitted in writing and addressed to the Comédie-Française by recorded delivery with acknowledgement of receipt, to the following address: Service Location — Comédie-Française — Place Colette, Paris 1st arrondissement.

For any time-sensitive matters, the postmark will serve as proof of date. Audience members benefiting from special access conditions to Comédie-Française productions under an agreement between the Comédie-Française and a partner (theatre, museum, transport operator, etc.) may not under any circumstances hold the Comédie-Française liable for any failure by said partner to fulfil its obligations.

Mediation

In accordance with Ordinance 2015-1033 of 20/08/2015 and implementing Decree 2015-1382 of 30/10/2015, any consumer dispute or disagreement, subject to Article L152-2 of the French Consumer Code, may be referred for amicable resolution through mediation to the CMAP (Centre de Médiation et d'Arbitrage de Paris, 39 avenue Franklin D. Roosevelt, Paris 8th arrondissement).

Health and safety measures

As health and safety measures are subject to change, please check the current protocol on our website comedie-francaise.fr the day before your visit and comply with it from the moment you arrive at the theatre.

 

Vigipirate

Following the reinforcement of security measures under the Vigipirate plan, we ask that you arrive 30 minutes before the start of the performance to facilitate security checks. 

Only one bag (such as a handbag) per person is permitted inside the three Comédie-Française theatres. Anyone arriving with additional bags, shopping bags, luggage or other bulky items will be refused entry to the buildings...

Conditions of access to exhibitions

Salle Richelieu and Studio-Théâtre: free access for ticket holders one hour before the start of performances.

Vieux-Colombier: free access Tuesday to Saturday from 2pm until the end of performances, and on Sundays one hour before the start of performances.
