Le Misanthrope at the Comédie-Française
La deuxième comédie-ballet de Molière
Set of decrees aiming to better adapt the administrative, financial and social organisation of the Comédie-Française to the demands of modern life. The relations between the sociétaires and pensionnaires and the administration are made more flexible. On an exceptional basis, the actors may be granted permission to perform on the stage of a Parisian national theatre.
Mademoiselle Duchesnois is given an ovation four months after her Comédie-Française debut in Phèdre and then Sémiramis, despite the opposition of her fellow cast members who much prefer Mademoiselle George, an actress of perfect beauty endowed with all the best physical qualities.

Alfred de Vigny's letter to members of the Committee of the Comédie-Française further to three changes made to the cast for the seventh performance of Le More de Venise without consulting him. "It was the Administrator's duty to request my opinion.
