Joined the Comédie-Française on the 27th of April 2016

Following his secondary education in Belgium, Julien Frison began his theatrical training at the Cours Florent in Paris in 2012. The following year, he trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur d’art dramatique under the supervision of Sandy Ouvrier, Nada Strancar and Xavier Gallais. There he played in Alessandro Barrico’s Novecento directed by Emmanuel Besnault. In 2015, he played in De l’ambition, a piece by Yann Reuzeau presented at the Théâtre du Soleil.

He joined the Comédie-Française as a pensionnaire on the 27th of April 2016, and made his debut as Bobin, Nonancourt’s nephew, in a rerun of Eugène Labiche’s An Italian Straw Hat (Un chapeau de paille d’Italie) directed by Giorgio Barberio Corsetti. In 2017, he took on the roles of Maffio Orsini in Victor Hugo’s Lucrezia Borgia, the Marquis in Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac and Octave in Molière’s Les Fourberies de Scapin, all three directed by Denis Podalydès. Isabelle Nanty entrusted him with the role of Maxime, Paillardin’s nephew, in her staging of Georges Feydeau’s The Free Exchange Hotel (L’Hôtel du Libre-Échange). Véronique Vella directed him in Le Cerf et le Chien, adapted from Marcel Aymé’s Contes du chat perché at the Studio-Théâtre. He was cast in Bertolt Brecht’s Resistible Ascension of Arturo Ui directed by Katharina Thalbach and in Frank Wedekind’s The Awakening of Spring directed by Clément Hervieu-Léger.

In 2006, Julien Frison began his film career alongside Albert Dupontel, inOdette Toulemonde by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt. Following this, he played in Big City by Djamel Bensalah, Un monde à nous by Frédéric Balekjan, Sommeil blanc by Jean-Paul Guyon and Angel at Sea (Un ange à la mer) by Frédéric Dumont. In 2010, he starred opposite Jean-Pierre Marielle in Rondo, a feature film directed by Olivier Van Maelderghem. In 2016, he was on the cast of The Canterville Ghost (Le Fantôme de Canterville) by Yann Samuell. Between 2007 and 2016, he appeared in numerous television films, including L’Épervier by Stéphane Clavier shown on France 3, and Bataille navale by Anne Deluz on M6. He was also part of the regular cast of the TF1 series Nos chers voisins and in 2008 he appeared in the television series Revivre by Haim Bouzaglo, broadcast on ARTE.
During the 2018/2019 season, Julien Frison plays in Shakespeare’s The Twelfth Night (La Nuit des rois ou Tout ce que vous voulez) by Thomas Ostermeier, Andersen’s Little Mermaid by Géraldine Martineau, Bergman’s Fanny et Alexandre by Julie Deliquet as well as in the reruns of Victor Hugo’s Lucrezia Borgia and Molière’s Les Fourberies de Scapin, both plays staged by Denis Podalydès and in Feydeau’s The Free Exchange Hotel by Isabelle Nanty.
His public reading session, Grenier des acteurs, is dedicated to Alessandro Barrico.
